Accounting and Finance Clerk

Schedule: 40 hours/weeks (Monday – Friday)
Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 CAD
Location: Timmins, ON
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hybrid (in-office and remote work) may be available depending on the successful candidate's experience and operational requirements. The employee will be required to attend the Timmins office as needed for meetings, training, month-end activities and other business requirements.

Hancon Mining Division Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting and Finance Clerk to support the accounting operations of both Hancon Mining Division Inc. (Canada) and Hancon Mining Division USA Corp.

This position is responsible for various accounting duties including accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, accounts payable support, purchasing administration, reconciliations, and general accounting functions. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, project management, payroll, and management teams while utilizing Sage 50 Accounting software to support both Canadian and U.S. operations.

Job Responsibilities:

Accounts Receivable
- Prepare and issue customer invoices based on approved timesheets, purchase orders, contract requirements, and project documentation.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up with customers regarding overdue accounts.
- Process customer payments and apply receipts accurately.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries.
- Prepare accounts receivable aging reports and assist with collection activities.
- Reconcile customer accounts and maintain supporting documentation.

Accounts Payable & Purchasing
- Enter and process vendor invoices in Sage 50.
- Verify invoices against purchase orders, receipts, and approvals.
- Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and issue resolution.
- Create and issue purchase orders in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
- Maintain vendor records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with tracking project-related purchases and costs.

Accounting & Financial Administration
- Maintain accounting records for both Canadian and U.S. entities.
- Perform month-end account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger accounts.
-Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Prepare journal entries and supporting schedules as required.
- Support intercompany reconciliations and transactions.
- Assist with audit requests and preparation of supporting documentation.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper filing systems.
- Assist with financial reporting and data analysis as required.

Administrative Support
- Assist with payroll administration and employee expense reimbursements.
- Support project administration and contract documentation.
- Maintain confidential employee, customer, and vendor information.
- Provide support to the accounting, payroll, and operations teams.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or accounts payable experience preferred.
- Experience using Sage 50 Accounting or similar accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working in a multi-company environment is considered an asset.
- Experience with Canadian and U.S. accounting operations is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Mining, construction, contracting, or project-based industry experience is considered an asset.
